recording onto CD

I have access to 2 older computers and I'm wondering if it is feasable to use them to record with. We have mics and gear...a PA and monitors. Can someone tell me the basic things I would need to do this...I basically want CD demos, not tapes

How old are the PC's? What's the CPU? How much RAM? What is the motherboard's chipset? Does the PC have a soundcard?

It will depend on what software you use and how many tracks you need to record simultaneously.

About the most basic setup would be to run everything into a mixer first, set levels, EQ, panning, effects, and then send a stereo feed to your soundcard's input. But you still need software.

To get more of a 'pro' sound, you'll need a little $$$. Better soundcard, software, etc. And a more powerful PC.
